First seeing The Godfather you'll probably have a good idea of what it is about a Mafia is never mentioned as a Mafia film,and I do not believe the word Mafia is used in the the Corleone family its a part of their business and know what the Corleone's are doing is evil and wrong,but The Godfather isn't told from our point of few it is told from the point of few of The Corleone understanding this we are able to understand the characters more,and have sympathy for Brando's Vito Corleone is a respectable man,he is offered to get into the drug business and he says it is audience of course know that Vito is a cold hearted killer,but he comes across as a sad man.A crucial establishing scene in the beginning of the movie,has an undertaker asking Vito for justice,Vito says that he will receive it,but he will ask him a favor in the is gunned down and is sick the rest of his life,his son Sanito "Sonny" Corleone takes his Father's is betrayed and gunned down in a violent war.A sad Vito comes in to the Undertaker asking his favor,clean up his body so his mother doesn't have to seem him like story of The Godfather does not belong to Vito Corleone though he only plays a part in Godfather is the story of the transfer of Vito's empire to his other son Michael.Michael is actually a decent guy,he has a girlfriend he plans to wed,and is a war hero.Michael in tears tells his Father he will be there for him next to his hospital bed.Michael kills the men who set-up his even tells Michael he didn't want a life of crime for him,he wanted him to become something rough the course of the movie Michael becomes a man possibly worse than his father,he is a tragic figure you feel for.
The Godfather is brilliantly directed by Francis Ford is arguably the best directed film of all has a dark feel to acting is brilliant too,there is no bad performance in this Godfather is a must see,for any fan of you could only place one film to represent the 20th Century and movies,The Godfather would probably be that film.

"The Godfather" tells the story of the Corleone family, an Italian family involved in organized and legitimate crime. The patriarch (Marlon Brando) is beginning to lose rule over the family and his business, and new management must be
taken over by either of his two sons, Sonny (James Caan) or Michael (Al
Pacino) along with tension between other crime families in 1950's New York.
This is a very original and genuine story that truly has no substitute. It is brought to life by a wonderful cast and it's powerful nature will grab the attention of even the most picky audience member.
One scene this reviewer would like to point out is the scene in the italian
restaurant. Pacino's character, Michael, is pulling out a gun from a bathroom stall. As he does so, a train can be heard approaching. As the bulk of the train screeches by, Pacino stands there, contemplaiting his next move. As the train begins to fade from hearing, Pacino goes back into the restaurant and murders the two clients at his meeting. This scene shows the change of Michael from the war hero, to the family's next hit man, as he steps onto the first rung of the ladder of eventual family succession. The train, in the eyes (or ears if you prefer) of this reviewer, is symbolic of his transition. Before the train: war hero; after the train: Hit man.
This film is one of a kind. It has it all: love, anger, drama, vengeance, honor, and a plethera of other emotions that one would think would be too much for one
film. It has certainly earned best movie in the eyes of the reviewer, and a piece of American art, culture and history.
